Caucus Meetings

It’s caucus time!

Like Democrats across Iowa, we will hold our caucus meetings on Monday, January 15 at 7 pm. Here are the three locations of our meetings:

First Presbyterian Church (1025 5th Avenue, Grinnell)
All Democrats from Grinnell & the CGWS Townships

Montezuma Public Library (500 East Main Street, Montezuma)
All Democrats from Montezuma & the JUPS Townships

Brooklyn Public Library (306 Jackson Street, Brooklyn)
All Democrats from Brooklyn, Malcom, Deep River, and the BCWMJ townships

Caucus meetings are where we take care of three important items of party business:

(a) Electing new representatives for the local party’s Central Committee;

(b) Accepting proposals for our local party’s platform and

(c)  Selecting delegates for the annual county party convention

Anyone who is a member of the Democratic Party is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Iowa Democrats no longer vote for presidential candidates at the caucus meeting. All Iowa Democrats will cast their vote for the 2024  presidential nominee by mail with a “Presidential Preference Card” issued by the Iowa Democratic Party. The options on the card will be Joe Biden, Dean Phillips, Marianne Williamson, and “Uncommitted.”
